Illinois Solar Company

Solar done right.

  • Own the system - or just pay for the power
  • Incentive & utility paperwork handled
  • Local crews across Illinois
Same House. Three Ways to Pay.

Own the system, or just pay for the power.

Every way, Cox designs it for your roof, pulls the permits, and installs it. You choose how you pay.

Option 1 · Buy

Own your system.

  • Pay cash or finance the system with a solar loan
  • You own the panels, the battery, and the production
  • In Illinois, Illinois Shines REC payments and the utility rebate go to you
  • Best when you want the most value over the life of the system

Option 2 · Power plan

You pay for the power.

  • You provide the roof - no panel purchase
  • You pay for the power the system produces, at the rate in your agreement
  • We take care of design, permits, installation, monitoring, and support
  • Best when you want solar without financing the equipment

Option 3 · Solar + Battery VPA

$0 down. Battery included.

  • $0 upfront: no loan, no down payment, no equipment to buy
  • Solar plus a 60 kWh Duracell battery, included
  • A 12 cent per kWh rate on the solar your system produces
  • Maintenance, monitoring, and repairs always covered

Power plans are currently offered in Illinois, on a qualifying agreement only. Credit and roof approval required. Rate, term, escalator, transfer, and buyout depend on the agreement you sign and on Illinois law. With a power plan, incentives go to the system owner. This is not free solar. The Solar + Battery VPA is offered through SOLRITE Energy in ComEd and Ameren Illinois territory; SOLRITE owns and maintains the equipment. Missouri homeowners can buy or finance their system.

Built for the Midwest

Solar Designed for Illinois

Snow loads and freeze-thaw cycles shape how we rack and flash every array. In Illinois, supply-only net metering for new ComEd and Ameren Illinois customers makes system size matter more than ever, and Illinois Shines REC payments reward systems that are designed and documented correctly.

From Chicago bungalows and suburban two-stories to farmhouses outside Peoria and Springfield, we size every system to the power you actually use, so it's built to perform in January and July anywhere in Illinois.

Illinois Solar Incentives

Incentives That Pay You Back

Illinois still offers some of the strongest solar programs in the Midwest. Here's what's available.

$300/kW
ComEd & Ameren solar rebate (smart inverter)
$300/kWh
Utility battery storage rebate
15 yrs
Illinois Shines REC contract
50%
Of small-system REC value paid at energization

Illinois Shines (Adjustable Block Program)

Illinois' state solar incentive pays for the renewable energy credits (RECs) your system is expected to produce over a 15-year contract. For small residential systems approved on or after June 1, 2026, 50% of the REC incentive is paid at energization and the rest is paid in equal quarterly installments over the following six years.

ComEd & Ameren DG Rebate

Illinois law requires ComEd and Ameren to offer a one-time rebate for new solar and battery systems that use a qualifying smart inverter: $300 per kW of DC solar capacity and $300 per kWh of battery storage capacity, through December 31, 2029.
